John Terry: “I was angry and upset”

John Terry is going to defend himself in the Westminster Magistrate Court, talking about the racist aggravation against Anton Ferdinand in Loftus Road last October.

Prosecutor Duncan Penny said Mr Terry made the offensive comment because he had had enough of being “humiliated in public”. Mr Terry is said to have said things about having sex with Mr Ferdinand’s girlfriend, in response to taunts about his alleged affair with team –mate’s ex –partner.

Mr Terry said that he tried later on to talk to Ferdinand’s brother Rio, but he would not appear on the telephone.

The television kept playing images of the incident for a long time in slow motion, in order to see whether there has been an abuse or not.
